Holding Today’s Piece
I’m waiting for a stronger evidentiary basis before writing on Iranian responses to the Kristof controversy and what they may reveal about shifting views of Israel and the United States.
A Brief Note to Readers
I had hoped to publish today on how Iranians inside and outside the country are responding to the Kristof / Israeli prison controversy — the debate over Nicholas Kristof’s New York Times column alleging sexual abuse and torture of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons — especially in the context of possible shifts in Iranian public opinion toward Israel and the United States during the current war.
But I don’t yet have enough material to write the piece responsibly. The ongoing internet blackout in Iran has sharply limited access to the Persian-language social media sources I would normally use to gauge debate inside the country.
So I’m going to wait rather than send something underdeveloped. The point of this notebook is to be timely, but not merely reactive.
I hope to return to this in the next few days.
Thank you for reading.
Kian
